Certified Veterinary Technician
Job Summary
The Bunker Hill Veterinary Hospital, P.C. is seeking experienced part-time and/or full-time Certified Veterinary Technician(s) for our busy and expanding general dog and cat practice that also provides occasional house calls for special patient and client needs.
Candidates must be friendly, respectful, motivated, willing to improve their skills and be able to multitask, communicate clearly, stay organized, and work hard. As you are aware this is a very physically demanding profession and the individual must be able to lift patients and pet food up to 50 pounds repeatedly on a daily basis. Excellent, safe animal handling and compassionate restraint skills are essential.
Responsibilities and Duties

Becoming a team leader for practice improvement, documentation, maintaining equipment, training, staff meetings, evaluations of other coworkers

Obtaining and recording patient case histories

Assisting fellow employees and veterinarians in routine, sick and emergency exams

Collecting blood, urine and fecal specimens along with the placement of intravenous and urinary catheters

Carrying out laboratory procedures using the full IDEXX in-house laboratory. Perform urinalysis, sediments analysis, ear cytology, etc. Process multiple send out lab tests.

Providing individual, hospitalized patient care

Preparing animals, instruments, and equipment for surgery

Calculating, administering and monitoring anesthesia

Assisting Veterinarians in diagnostic medical and surgical procedures

Obtaining and processing digital radiographs

Advising and educating animal owners on a variety of nutritional, behavioral and medical topics.

Performing dental disease prevention and treatment along with educating clients on home dental care.

Following through with client communications in person, by phone, text, and e-mail

Mastering any and all client interactions including knowledge of daily receptionist related responsibilities for some cross trained coverage when needed
The ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends and some holidays is required.

Qualifications and Skills
PA Veterinary Technician License and three year's work experience preferred.
