Associate Veterinarians

Bunker Hill Veterinary Hospital, PC is a feline and canine practice located in the Endless Mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania.  We are currently accepting applications for experienced, full or part-time associate veterinarians who are able to provide both medical and surgical services.  We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, friendly, knowledgeable and willing to mentor others.  Our hospital is well established and built on the exceptional services and care that we provide all of our patients. Certified Veterinary Technicians

The Bunker Hill Veterinary Hospital, P.C. is seeking experienced full-time Certified Veterinary Technician(s) for our busy and expanding general dog and cat practice that also provides occasional house calls for special patient and client needs.

Candidates must be friendly, respectful, motivated, willing to improve their skills and be able to multitask, communicate clearly, stay organized, and work hard. As you are aware this is a very physically demanding profession and the individual must be able to lift patients and pet food up to 50 pounds repeatedly on a daily basis.  Excellent, safe animal handling and compassionate restraint skills are essential.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Becoming a team leader for practice improvement, documentation, maintaining equipment, training, staff meetings, evaluations of other coworkers
  • Obtaining and recording patient case histories
  • Assisting fellow employees and veterinarians in routine, sick and emergency exams
  • Collecting blood, urine and fecal specimens along with the placement of intravenous and urinary catheters
  • Carrying out laboratory procedures using the full IDEXX in-house laboratory.  Perform urinalysis, sediments analysis, ear cytology, etc.  Process multiple send out lab tests.
  • Providing individual, hospitalized patient care during weekday evenings, and weekends including Saturday evening and Sunday all day (in shifts).
  • Preparing animals, instruments, and equipment for surgery
  • Calculating, administering and monitoring anesthesia
  • Assisting Veterinarians in diagnostic medical and surgical procedures
  • Obtaining and processing digital radiographs
  • Advising and educating animal owners on a variety of nutritional, behavioral and medical topics.
  • Performing dental disease prevention and treatment along with educating clients on home dental care.
  • Maintaining hospital cleanliness, including restocking supplies, kennel care, etc.
  • Performing computerized follow-ups using veterinary computer program Avimark
  • Following through with client communications in person, by phone, text, and e-mail
  • Mastering any and all client interactions including knowledge of daily receptionist related responsibilities for some cross trained coverage when needed

Veterinary Technician/Assistant

The Bunker Hill Veterinary Hospital, P.C. is seeking a part-time Veterinary Technician/Assistant who can work a minimum of 20 hours a week including evenings and weekends to assist this expanding dog and cat practice.

Candidates must be friendly, motivated, willing to learn and work hard. Preference given to individuals with previous employed work experience in a veterinary setting as well as those currently enrolled in schooling to join this wonderful profession and pursue a passion of their own.

Excellent, safe animal handling, compassionate restraint skills, computer skills, the ability to lift up to 48 pounds (patients and pet food) comfortably and repeatedly on a daily basis, and multitasking with efficiency are essential requirements.

Some duties and responsibilities include assisting technicians in:

  • Obtaining and recording patient case histories
  • Restraining animals for TPR’s for routine, sick and emergency exams
  • Preparing animals, instruments, and equipment for surgery
  • Moving and monitoring animals recovering from anesthesia
  • Collecting urine and fecal specimens and setting up basic laboratory procedures with guidance
  • Caring for any admitted patients on evenings and weekends
  • Performing basic grooming procedures such as nail trims and bathing
  • Assisting technicians in animal restraint while performing a variety of tasks including obtaining digital radiographs, blood samples, placing intravenous catheters etc.
  • Maintaining hospital and grounds cleanliness, including restocking supplies, cleaning, kennel care, laundry and pooper scooping J etc.
  • Good people and receptionist skills and duties such as following through with client communications including computer, phone and filing.
  • Being organized and focused on improving everyone’s and every pet’s experience that come to us for care.
  • Discharging routine surgical patients and reviewing basic medications with their owners.

The current schedule we are looking to fill is M-F from 3-8 pm and every Saturday 9 am – 3 pm. Sometimes your job will require you to have a split shift and make more than one trip to the hospital in one day, mostly on Sundays.
